How much do custom blinds, shades, and shutters cost in Wimberley?

Custom window treatments typically range from under $100 to over $1,000 per window. The price depends on the product, window size, material, operating system, motorization, and number of windows, so an exact quote requires measuring the actual windows. That's why Made in the Shade Wimberley includes a free in-home consultation — Sam brings the mobile showroom to you, measures every window, shows samples in your home's real light, and tailors the quote to your project.

Do you build and install solar screens in Wimberley?

Yes — we build and install solar screens, including for large window sizes, which is a common request in Wimberley and the Hill Country. Solar screens block the sun's heat and UV before it hits the glass, keeping rooms cooler and protecting your interiors. They're ideal for the big view windows of Hill Country homes — we handle the whole job, build and install.

Are you locally owned?

Yes. Made in the Shade Wimberley is locally, family-owned and operated by Sam and Kari, who personally handle the consultation, measuring, and installation — carrying on the business founder Steve built. You work directly with the owners, not a call center or a big-box retailer. They've served Wimberley, Hays County, and the Hill Country for 14+ years with a 5-star reputation and a lifetime guarantee.

What window treatments are best for big Hill Country view windows?

For the large view windows of a Wimberley home, solar screens and solar shades block heat and UV while preserving your view, and roller shades (our top pick) go smart with motorization for tall, hard-to-reach windows. Honeycomb shades add insulation to lower your energy bill. Plantation shutters add timeless value, and we build and install solar screens for even large windows.

Do you offer a warranty?

Yes — our window treatments are quality, American-made products backed by a lifetime guarantee, and we stand behind them. One longtime customer had a shade discolor and we replaced it free and fast. We've served Wimberley for well over a decade, and many customers return to us for years.

What areas do you serve?

Made in the Shade Wimberley serves Wimberley, Hays County, and surrounding areas, including the greater Hill Country and Canyon Lake area — Fischer, Blanco, Kyle, San Marcos, Buda, and Dripping Springs. The mobile showroom comes to your home anywhere in the service area. Call (512) 847-8970 to confirm we cover your area — we'll bring the showroom to you.

The Unfinished-Room Problem and How Drapery Solves It

The Problem: A room can feel hard and unfinished with only blinds or shades on the windows, and the tall, dramatic great-room windows of a Hill Country home can feel especially bare and echoey. Hard treatments alone rarely deliver the softness, warmth, and layered light control a beautiful Wimberley home deserves — especially against the bright afternoon sun.

The Solution: Custom drapery solves both the look and the function. Layering drapes over your shades adds depth, sound dampening, and an extra layer of control over the bright Hill Country sun, while giving the room a finished, sophisticated look and framing your view with elegance. Whether framing a two-story great-room window or softening a bedroom, our drapes are tailored to your exact windows from thousands of premium fabrics — with motorized tracks for large or hard-to-reach windows. Backed by a lifetime guarantee.

Frequently Asked Questions About Custom Drapery in Wimberley

Does drapery help with the bright Hill Country sun?

Yes. Lined and light-filtering drapery softens the harsh afternoon sun and cuts glare, while blackout linings keep bedrooms dark and cool. Layered over shades, drapery adds depth, sound dampening, and extra light and heat control.

Is drapery a good fit for tall great-room windows?

Absolutely – custom full-length drapery frames the tall, dramatic two-story windows of a Hill Country home beautifully, and motorized tracks make those hard-to-reach panels effortless.

We tailor every panel to your exact windows.

Can I layer drapery over shades?

Yes – it’s one of our most-requested looks. Many Hill Country homeowners layer room-darkening drapery over solar or honeycomb shades for better sleep, insulation, and a finished, designer feel.
